QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Meaning: It is concerned with the quality of the product keeping in mind the predetermined standards. Quality management is required to produce customers satisfactory products that will help the organization in its national and international market growth. So it ensures better quality goods at lower cost.

Quality Concept: Quality is defined as distinguish characteristics or features that distinguish one product from another, one manufacturer from its competitor and one brand from another. Quality means a degree of perfection and this degree can be judged by comparison with some predetermined standards like ISO. When such standards have been specified them product can be described as better, satisfactory or vice-e-versa. According to Jhrane, “Quality is consumers satisfaction achieved through product features like credibility validity, durability, transparency and freedom from deficiency.”

Quality Control: It is the control of quality during the manufacturing process. It is primorality interested in making things right rather than discovering or rejecting them after buying made wrong. Today customer is a king of the market and act rationally. He interested in both quality and price. So quality control is must. In the end we can say that quality control ensures weather the quality of product and services are according to the predetermined standards or not.

Objective of Quality Control:

1. To establish standard of quality that are acceptable to the customers.
2. To measure actual quality level of product.
3. To analyze the cause of quality deviations.
4. To take corrective actions to keep the quality of the product according to predetermined standard.
5. Reduction in inspection cost, rejections, scrap and rework.
6. Uniformity of product specifications.
7. Improvement in the quality level of products that help in acquiring market share and brand equity.
8. To help in making customers relationship, increases sales volume and profitability.


INSPECTION

It is the process of examining an object for identification or checking far verification of quality and quantity in any of its characteristics. It is an important tool far ascertaining and controlling the quality of product.

Type of Inspection: There are two type of inspection which are given below:-

1. 100% Inspection. 2. Sampling Inspection.

It is a judicial function which involves comparing one product with another and their comparison requires a physical examination of goods to identify cracks, scratches and leakages. It is an art of applying test to observe whether a product is within the specified limit of quality or not. It is a wider concept and it involves control of quality during the manufacturing process. It starts from the initial stage to the final stage to maintain the excellence of end product.
It is one tool of quality control It is a comprehensive concept. It aims at producing better quality products at lowest possible cost.
It is descriptive in nature and it involves physical examination of products to identify deviations. It is descriptive as well prescriptive in nature. It not only describes the cause of failure but also prescribes the methods to minimize the variation.
It is actually the examination of goods as prescribed by the quality management. It determines – when, where, how, how much to inspect.
